Policy DM33 Green corridors

Representation ID: 332

Received: 10/03/2014

Respondent: Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils (East Suffolk)

Legally compliant? Not specified

Sound? Not specified

Duty to co-operate? Not specified

Representation Summary:

SCDC supports the principle of increasing open spaces and ensuring they complement development proposals, but objects to the green rim which crosses the Ipswich administrative boundary. It could have significant policy implications for the Council's site allocations work. Locations bordering Ipswich are broadly considered sustainable due to proximity to services, infrastructure and facilities. Allocating parts as green rim is likely to cause future conflict between protecting green field sites and potential allocation of land through Suffolk Coastal's Local Plan. The Council has concerns about implementing this policy and future management arrangements for these areas.
