It is worth considering area based policies for the historic environment particularly given the limited policy coverage in the Core Strategy. This could address local designations such as conservation areas and buildings of townscape interest, and define character areas across the town based on the emerging urban characterisation study and other sources. It would be consistent with existing draft area-based policies on green corridors and the ecological network.
