The Policies Map shows an area of archaeological importance, which is also referenced in paragraph 8.42. However, there is nothing in the Core Strategy that explains what this means in terms of any relevant planning application, making this designation somewhat ineffectual.

Add text: Attention is drawn to Appendix X which shows the Area of Archaeological Importance of the Anglo-Saxon and Medieval town, aspects of which are internationally recognised. Beyond this area, the Borough includes parts of the wider landscape of the Gipping Valley and Orwell Estuary, and there are Prehistoric, Roman, Anglo-Saxon and other period archaeological sites within its boundaries.
