Representation Summary:

Against the existing Local Plan, this proposes further loss of countryside off Tuddenham Rd in addition to the three Garden Suburb neighbourhoods and the erosion of such designated countryside in the Borough is not acceptable or sustainable. No assessment of the traffic issues has been made which include increased traffic; its effects on the humpback bridge, the absence of footways on the adjacent narrow stretch of road;increased coach usage and rat running on Humberdoucy Lane. These should be examined in detail and resolved before redesignation is considered.

Representation Summary:

Concerned that the Westgate site has no occupier, but suggest residential accommodation. Grafton way site could be residential/hotel led. Suggest Tacket St/Cox Lane has short mall linking Carr St to Upper Brook St plus multi-storey car park and residences. Need for increased long stay car parking capacity questioned, main problems are cost and access. Suggest review of parking needs, switching long stay to short stay, re-opening Bury Rd, Park & Ride. Air quality needs to be assessed and short car journeys discouraged accordingly.

Representation Summary:

There appears to be an error in the table on p29 as it records an area of 0.6ha whereas Appendix 3 shows 0.87ha. The former gives a density of 50dph, contrary to the 35dph average in Policy DM30(c). Although an allocation of just under 30 dwellings would comply with policy it would be out of keeping with the neighbourhood. A density of 15dph is suggested. As the hockey pitch is classified as sport provision it would need to be replaced before change of use for housing could be sanctioned; current site access is also considered inadequate.
